My next campaign video is out. A very important topic: climate change. Climate change is the challenge of our times. Averting the worst impacts will require the collective action of governments all around the world. Just two months ago, Council passed HRM’s ambitious climate change plan, HalifACT 2050. The Plan sketches out a path for HRM to meet our obligations under the Paris Agreement. It will take significant emission reductions over the next several years leading up to being carbon neutral by 2050. While HalifACT has an upfront cost, the good news is that it produces savings over the long-term by reducing energy costs and creating green jobs. The best plan in the world though doesn’t mean anything if there isn’t the will to follow through. I’m committed to ensuring HalifACT remains a top priority. Check it out below:
District 5 Candidate Events:
Over the next few weeks, they’ll be opportunities to compare and contrast between myself and my competitor, Mitch MacIntyre, although not as many as usual given the realities of COVID-19. The Halifax Examiner posted five questions for every candidate in HRM and is presenting those answers by district. Here’s the District 5 answers on a range of current issues.
If you’ve followed politics in Downtown Dartmouth closely over the last several years, there is a good chance you’ve been to a candidates forum at Grace United. Grace United has been the venue for past provincial, federal, and municipal forums and they’re doing so again this year. COVID-19 means the District 5 forum will be broadcast rather than having an in-person audience. Right now, there is an opportunity for you to put Mitch and I through our paces. Grace United is inviting members of the public to submit questions. You can do so by emailing:
DartmouthAllCandidates@gmail.com
Questions must be succinct and be submitted by Monday October 5. The Forum will take place on October 7, 7:00-8:30. Check out Grace’s event listing on Facebook for more details.
How You Can Help My Campaign:
Thanks to my sign team, almost all of my lawn sign requests are filled (just a handful of relatively recent asks to place). If you’ve requested a sign, but don’t have it yet, let me know and we’ll correct. We have nearly 300 out there so there could be an error or two in the spreadsheet somewhere. If you haven’t signed up yet for a lawn sign or would like to volunteer to deliver flyers or canvass, you can do so online by clicking here. Thank you for your support.
