It was a busy evening at the Findlay Community Centre. A total of 444 District 5 residents cast ballots in our second participatory budgeting night to award $50,000 in funding to community groups. The rain certainly didn’t keep people away! Below are the results:
- Victoria Children’s Centre $10,000
Project: Purchase and installation of a natural playground space. - Back to Our Roots Urban Farm $3,100
Project: Design and installation of large welcome sign and small plant identification/information signage. - MacPhee Centre for Creative Learning $4,715
Project: Purchase of lighting equipment for film and photography programs; purchase of digital piano for songwriting, sound engineering and music theatre programs - North Woodside Community Centre $9,000
Project: Facility washroom renovations. - Back to the Sea Society $10,000
Project: Feasibility study to determine location of proposed collect-and-release aquarium for the Dartmouth waterfront. - Senobe Aquatic Club $5,000
Project: Purchase new boat trailer for the club. - Banook Canoe Club $5,000
Project: Replace gym-side fire escape stairwell and supporting structures; replace expired weight room equipment. - Dartmouth Dragon Boat Association $3,185 (partial award)
Project: New dock at Graham’s Grove park on Lake Banook.
